If you have a sewing machine at home, then let me teach your child how to use it safely and independently alongside their peers.
PROJECTS MADE AND SKILLS COVERED
Below, you will find a list of skills that your child will be taught during our online lessons. They do not need to have any prior knowledge to join - if anything, it's better if they don't!
Although it is a beginner's group, I do provide projects that progress their skills in a structured and considered way. I aim to keep them motivated through creating projects that extend their learning - leaving the simpler projects for them to try independently themselves when they have time.
BEGINNER GROUP: HALF TERM ONE
Wind a bobbin, thread a sewing machine and practise control skills.
Measure out, make and label pattern pieces.
Padded Folder Cover
Apply fusible fleece, topstitch and adding pockets.
Drawstring Project Bag
French seams and drawstring channels.
BEGINNER GROUP: HALF TERM TWO
Create pockets, add applique and bias binding.
Curved line sewing, measuring head circumference and adding elastic.
BEGINNER GROUP: HALF TERM THREE
Make HSTs (Half Square Triangles) and QSTs (Quarter Square Triangles) to create a variety of different patchwork blocks. The focus of the half term is accuracy of stitching.
BEGINNER GROUP: HALF TERM FOUR
